Cary Grant

There is little disagreement that Cary Grant is the consummate film actor. He did it all: action, comedy, drama, character roles, mystery, biopics, and was the ultimate leading man. Perhaps the reason we still watch his movies is that he is yet to be replaced. In comedies like The Awful Truth (1937), His Girl Friday (1940), and Arsenic and Old Lace (1944) he's up on his feet and quick with the timing and comedic lines. Yet, he is just as believable in his dramatic roles, such as the resolute, tough airline manager in Only Angels Have Wings (1939), the perhaps murder-plotting husband in Suspicion (1941), and a troubled husband and father in Penny Serenade (1941). Not to mention his great performances as the leading man in some of the "Master of Suspense's", Alfred Hitchcock's, top films. It is a wonder why he never won an Oscar.
