Weekend Watch 2/15-2/16
What I’m watching this weekend: My Favorite Wife (1940)- 1 hr 28 mins
It’s been seven years since Nick Arden’s (Cary Grant) wife, Ellen (Irene Dunne), disappeared at sea. Now declared legally dead, Nick looks to his new life and quickly remarries. It would seem the story would end there. However, Ellen miraculously turns up just as the pair head off on their honeymoon!
From the acting team that brought you The Awful Truth and writer-director Leo McCarey, My Favorite Wife is a delightful screwball rom-com. “Mr. McCarey is, without compare, a master of the technique of the prolonged and amorous tease.”* My Favorite Wife is no exception. This is a perfect film for this Valentine’s Day weekend!
