Hello everyone, and welcome back to this week's Weekend Watch at Bing's Basement. In case you’re new, go ahead and check out the About page to find out more about Bing's Basement.

This weekend I am watching, once again, an old, personal favorite, the film Holiday (1938). Holiday has always been a favorite of mine and continues to be something that I watch over and over again. Its combination of  touching moments and comedy (complete with acrobatics!) give it a kind of balance that makes it an immediate favorite, especially with wonderful actors, like Cary Grant and Katharine Hepburn in the lead roles!

In the film Grant plays Johnny, a man with the unconventional idea of going on a "holiday" to enjoy life while he's young rather than spend his prime sitting behind a desk. Johhny falls in love with Julia (Doris Nolan), a girl from a well to do family. Julia and her father want him to work in the family firm rather than embark on his foolish idea, while his fiancée's unusual, but perhaps more well suited sister, Linda (Katharine Hepburn), and her alcoholic brother (Lew Ayres) are confident in his good character.
