Weekend Watch 8/18-8/19
What Iām watching this weekend: Random Harvest (1942)- 2 hrs 6 mins
Smithy (Ronald Colman) is a WW 1 veteran who suffers from amnesia and stuttering due to shock. Wandering with the streets one night, Smithy meets a show girl: Paula (Greer Garson). Paula takes him in and offers the love, support, and the normalcy that he has been lacking. The two fall in love and are married. Just as they are beginning their new life together, Smithy gets into an accident and the memories from his post war life are restored. He returns to his old life, leaving his new bride behind, but Paula does everything in her power to help him remember again.
If you're looking for a classic romance movie Random Harvest is an excellent choice. Although unbelievable at parts, at the center of Random Harvest is Garson and Colman, who make the film an essential for any romantic.
