Katharine Hepburn Movie Recommendation #2
Stage Door (1937)- 1 hr 32 mins
A boarding house, The Footlights Club is home to a family of aspiring female entertainers. Sometimes a girl comes back with the news of a job, but more often than not they're all eating "lamb" stew for the 5th time that week, hoping to be able to pay next month's rent. Now, when Terry Randall (Katharine Hepburn), a wealthy girl, arrives at the packed boarding house, she and the spunky Jean (Ginger Rogers) butt heads in more ways than one.
Stage Door is able to portray the reality of these girls’ situations with the perfect balance of comedy, sarcasm, and drama. And if you're already a classic film buff, you may recognize some stars on the rise and other familiar faces. Among them are Lucille Ball, Ann Miller, Eve Arden, Gail Patrick, Jack Carson, and Margaret Early.
Enjoy and, as always, let me know your thoughts in the comments!
