What I’m watching this weekend: The Diary of Anne Frank (1959)-3 hrs

This film is a beautiful and effective retelling of Anne Frank’s The Diary of a Young Girl. Director George Stevens brings to life the award-winning Broadway play to the screen with great force. The black and white photography is visually stunning, adding to the texture of the film. The music, too, is both sensational and captivating.


Within the confines of their small hiding place, the film’s essential themes of hope, greed, and empathy are present in every character.* This only adds to the film’s intensity and impact, making it undeniably a wonderful film and beautiful work of art.
