Weekend Watch 2/16-2/17
What I’m watching this weekend: Please Don’t Eat the Daisies (1960; in color) - 1 hr 52 mins
It’s been a bit since I’ve watched this delightful film, so I am especially excited to re-watch the only Day-Niven screen pairing! Based upon the autobiographical book of the same name written by real life playwright Jean Kerr, the film Please Don’t Eat the Daisies gives a glimpse into the life of Kate McKay (Doris Day). She is a mother to 4 rambunctious boys and the wife of Laurence McKay- a drama professor at Columbia University, who has just recently transitioned into a job as a theater critic. Both are excited at this new opportunity, but the job may prove to be more that they had hoped for as it threatens their friendships, plans, and marriage.
While Please Don’t Eat the Daisies is not a great film by any means, it does have its moments. It´s just the kind of amusing and cheery film to watch after a long day! So sit down, put up your feet, and enjoy!
