Henry Fonda Movie Recommendation #2
The Ox-Bow Incident (1943) - 1 hr 15 mins
When Gil Cater (Henry Fonda) and Art Croft (Harry Morgan) ride into “just another” western town, they are quickly swept up into the town’s recent troubles with cattle rustlers. A posse is quickly formed to catch the thieves and suspected murderers, but the vengeance of the mob may not be as concerned with justice.
In his second-to-last film before joining the Navy, Fonda melds perfectly into the film’s rich ensemble cast. A noir-like western, The Ox-Bow Incident deals with questions of justice, vengeance, and mob mentality as even the moral-minded characters wrestle with their conscience when given the power to release or convict.
