Their ship is in and three sailors - Chip (Frank Sinatra), Gabey (Gene Kelly) and Ozzie (Jules Munshin) - can't wait to explore NYC on their 24-hour leave! Determined to make the most of it, the three sailors see the sights, but most importantly, they meet three lovely ladies (Betty Garrett, Vera Ellen, and Ann Miller).

Originally a Broadway show, this bright and classic musical was brought to the screen with a delightful result! Dynamic writing team Betty Comden and Adolph Green (“Just in Time,” Wonderful Town, Sing'n in the Rain) supplied the lyrics and Bernstein the music of NYC as only he can!

This film also marked the beginning of the end of Sinatra's time as a featured performer. He was transitioning to Sinatra, the actor. Audiences no longer came to see him as simply a radio performer on screen.
