A Star is Born (1954, in color) - 3 hrs 2 mins

Norman Maine is one of the biggest celebrities in Hollywood, but with his addiction to alcohol, his career is on the decline. At a fundraiser, he walks onto the stage drunk amid a musical act. Unable to stop Norman from going on stage, the band’s female singer, Esther Blodgett (Judy Garland), makes it appear as though Maine is part of the act. When he meets Esther again and hears her sing, he recognizes her potential and encourages her to make a name for herself. With his help, she does. The two fall in love and eventually marry. Esther’s career skyrockets while Norman’s falls apart. As his addiction gets worse, both have some hard choices to make.

Believe it or not, this is the second remake of the film which now had been remade four times. This version of A Star is Born was Garland’s career comeback film. MGM had dropped Garland a few years before and this was her chance to prove that she still had it. And, believe me, she does!
