Welcome back! I hope you all enjoyed Vol. 1 of 3 Classic Musicals. If you’re new, go ahead and check it out. This month, I have three more for you! And I am so excited to share them with you! I’ve picked three films that will collectively give you a pretty good look at some of classic Hollywood’s musical greats - Fred Astaire, Judy Garland, Gene Kelly, and Cyd Charisse to name a few. Easter Parade (1948)- 1 hr 48 mins
Broadway dancing star Don Hewes (Fred Astaire) has just lost his dancing partner Nadine (Ann Miller) because she has decided to go solo. Heartbroken, but determined, Hewes bets that he can make a dancer of any girl, and that girl is Hannah Brown (Judy Garland). In true Pygmalion fashion, Hewes tries to make Hannah into Nadine, from her clothes to the style of her dancing. The only problem is that Hannah is not Nadine. Now, as Hannah starts to fall for him and their success as a team grows, Don will have to decide which girl he’s taking to the Easter Parade. Has he done all of this to get Nadine back or is Hannah really the one for him after all?
With music from some of the best - Irving Berlin, Roger Edens, and Johnny Green - The Easter Parade shines as a beautiful technicolor musical that weaves heartbreak, romance, and comedy amid a string of memorable numbers! Why not watch it this coming Easter!?

It’s Always Fair Weather (1955; in color)- 1 hr 42 mins
When three armies buddies come back from WW2, they celebrate over a drink and vow to meet again at the same bar in ten years' time. Well, ten years go by and the three do meet up, but it’s nothing like they thought it would be.
The film, first and foremost, boasts a great cast: the incomparable Gene Kelly, dancer and choreographer Michael Kidd, song and dance man Dan Dailey, the amazing Cyd Charisse, and singer Dolores Gray. It features some iconic dance numbers- among them Gene Kelly dancing on roller skates and the three war buddies dancing with trash can lids on their feet- in a musical that’s not all sunshine and flowers.

Oklahoma! (1955)- 2 hrs 25 mins
Curly (Gordon MacRae) and Laurey (Shirley Jones) are in love but are too proud to tell each other, that is, at least, until Laurey's farm hand Jud poses a threat.
The classic Rodgers and Hammerstein musical is brought to the screen in this beautiful film. Equipped with a wonderful score, classic plot, great dancing, and often witty dialogue, the musical stands the test of time in this film adaptation. It continues to be a favorite of mine.
