Danny Churchill Jr. (Mickey Rooney) is a stuck up New York City playboy and his father is ready to send him away to school: Cody College. Out West, in the middle of nowhere, with no girls to be seen, Cody is the perfect place for Danny. At least this is how it appears. Little does Danny or his father know that there is one girl in town, the president of the school’s daughter, Ginger (Judy Garland).
In his failing attempts to win Ginger’s affections, Danny's affection for the schools grows. When he finds out that the school might close, he enlists the help of his new friends to put on a fundraiser full of quality dancing, singing, and belly laughs worth of trouble!
