When Don Diego de Vega (Tyrone Power) returns home to California from Spain, he is shocked to learn that his father is no longer Alcalde (the mayor), and that his replacement (J. Edward Bromberg) is abusing his power. Diego decides to take matters into his own hands, and in true Robin Hood fashion, becomes a hero for the people as the masked outlaw, Zorro!

Set in what was Spanish California, The Mark of Zorro is a dynamic swashbuckler, thanks in large part, to Power’s charismatic performance. He is perfect at creating the disguise of a fussy dandy who could care less about his fellow man and the less fortunate.  But Power is also mesmerizing as the masked hero, Zorro, who takes the takes the audience along on his daring adventures! Supported by a wonderful cast, and with sword in hand, Power fences his way through a film that is entertaining from start to finish. If you need any more convincing, his co-star, Basil Rathbone, went so far as to say that “Power was the most agile man with a sword I've ever faced before a camera. Tyrone could have fenced Errol Flynn into a cocked hat.”
