What I’m watching this weekend: The Lemon Drop Kid (1951) - 1 hr 31 mins
When con-artist, the Lemon Drop Kid (Bob Hope), finds out that he owes a mobster $10,000 - due Christmas Eve, he creates an elaborate scheme to pay him back in time. He creates a charity, which collects money under false pretenses with the help of his similarly crooked friends dressed up as St. Nick.
This is a fun and, of course, humorous film that features the comedic talents of Bob Hope as well as a wonderful cast of character actors that includes William Frawley (I Love Lucy) and Jane Darwell (The Grapes of Wrath). Join me this weekend by watching the movie that introduced the Christmas classic “Silver Bells.”
