Tyrone Power Movie Recommendation #3

Witness for the Prosecution (1957)- 1 hr 56 mins

When the suave Leonard Vole (Tyrone Power) is accused and tried for the murder of a wealthy widow who left him all of her money, prominent attorney Sir Wilfrid Robarts (Charles Laughton) takes his case. He does this despite the fact that he is recovering from a recent heart attack. Robarts believes that Vole is innocent, and with Vole’s wife as his only alibi (Marlene Dietrich), it would seem that it is an open and shut case. This could not be further from the truth.

Based on the short story and play by Agatha Christie, Witness for the Prosecution keeps its audience on the edge of its seat with disclosures and discoveries that last until the very last scene! This would be Power’s final film. He would die less than a year later, ironically from a heart attack, while filming Solomon and Sheba (1959).
