Weekend Watch 6/22-6/23

What I’m watching this weekend: Special Agent (1935)- 1 hr 56 mins

This weekend I am planning to watch one of the very few George Brent and Bette Davis’s eleven films that I have not yet seen! It’s one of their earlier films together, and like Front Page Woman made the same year, it is a bit of a mystery drama. I’ll be sure to post my thoughts to Twitter after the weekend. Thoughts after watching the film:

It was what you'd expect out of a early Brent-Davis film. The connection between Brent and Davis offers a bit of romantic and comedic relief amid the otherwise darker storyline in the dramatic picture. If I were to choose, I would definitely pick Front Page Woman over Special Agent. Their chemistry is explored more in that picture and the comedy-drama balance makes for more of a Thin Man-like quality.
