Ingrid Bergman Movie Recommendation #2

The Bells of St. Mary's (1945)- 2 hrs 6 mins

Welcome back everyone,

I hope that you enjoyed last weeks recommendation. For a second Ingrid Bergman recommendation, I have lined up a personal favorite of mine. If any of you have seen the film Going My Way (1944), another favorite of mine and a wonderful film, and enjoyed it, you will certainly like this one. In the Bells of St. Mary's, Bergman stars alongside the same lead of Going My Way, Bing Crosby (the namesake, shall we say, of this site!). Crosby is Father O'Malley (Bing Crosby). O'Malley has just been transferred to the deteriorating school of St. Mary's with the intent to help the situation, but he and the headmistress (Ingrid Bergman) clash with their different ideas on how to approach the situation.

Following her huge success as an actress and love interest, Bergman plays a bit of a different role here as Sister May Benedict, comedically sparring with Crosby's Father O'Malley. Nevertheless, the film was a huge success, earned Bergman another Oscar nomination, and gave us another delightful Bergman film.
