He passes the time in his wheel chair by observing his neighbors through his rear window. However, when he discovers what he thinks to be a murder, he enlists the help of his sophisticated girlfriend, Lisa (Grace Kelly), and nurse (Thelma Ritter) to help him uncover evidence.
