Weekend Watch 9/29-9/30
What I’m watching this weekend: The Enchanted Cottage (1945)- 1 hr 31 mins
I recently watched The Enchanted Cottage, which tells the love story of Air Force pilot Oliver Bradford (Robert Young) and the homely Laura Pennington (Dorothy McGuire) and a magical honeymoon cottage run by Mrs. Minnett (Mildred Natwick). Oliver first comes upon the lovely seaside cottage when he decides to rent it for he and his fiancé (Hillary Brooke). The two decide to hold off marrying until Oliver gets back from the war. But when Oliver is disfigured in a plane crash, he runs off back to the cottage to hide from his family. There the depressed Oliver and the lonely Laura find solace in one another and opt for a marriage of convenience. But as the cottage works its magic….the two change in more ways than one.
The Enchanted Cottage is a lovely sentimental film filled with romance and magic.
