Weekend Watch 1/19-1/20
What I’m watching this weekend: Carefree (1938)- 1 hr 23 mins
I am back again this weekend watching another Fred and Ginger film: Carefree (1938). Probably the quirkiest of all of their films, Carefree features another array of great dance numbers, among them “The Yam” dance that I mentioned in my last post. The dance ends with Astaire continuously turning and lifting Rogers over a room full of tables!
Rogers is radio singer Amanda Cooper who has now broken her engagement for the third time to Stephen Arden (Ralph Bellamy). Arden, wanting to help her make up her mind, advises her to see his friend, psychiatrist Tony Flagg (Astaire). Amanda takes his advice, and she does make up her mind to get married, only the man she loves is Tony not Stephen!
