Judy Garland
Only two when she started in show business, Garland’s booming contralto voice, accompanied by her uncontrollable vibrato, captured the heart of millions over the course of a career that spanned several decades. Although she is best known for her work in musicals such as The Wizard of Oz (1939) and Meet Me in St. Louis (1944), she proved herself a truly versatile and accomplished actress in films such as A Star is Born (1954), Judgement at Nuremberg (1961) and others.
